The highlight of the Los Angeles Lakers season was defeating the Rasheed Wallace-led Portland Trail Blazers, Tim Duncan-led San Antonio Spurs and finally rival Sacramento Kings led by Chris Webber in the first three rounds of the 2002 NBA Playoffs, and winning the 2002 NBA Finals defeating the New Jersey Nets, thus completing the second three-peat in franchise history, the first since 1952-54.
